Cosmetic Dentistry

Very few people have perfectly shaped white teeth. Common concerns include teeth that are discoloured or stained, chipped, worn or not quite the right size. Other times, people may have highly visible fillings in their back teeth that make them feel self-conscious when talking or laughing. Some people have what is frequently called a gummy smile. These are all problems that can often be addressed with cosmetic dentistry at Icon Dental.

If you have concerns about the appearance of your smile, we can assess your teeth and discuss the most suitable options to fit in with your budget and timeframe.

Teeth Whitening

Professional teeth whitening is an extremely popular cosmetic dental treatment.

It is fast, effective, and, when performed under the supervision of a dentist, extremely safe.

We offer two options for teeth whitening. The first is performed in the dental chair and takes around an hour. Our professional teeth whitening products can safely and comfortably lift the colour of your teeth by several shades in a single visit.

Alternatively, we provide custom home whitening kits using professional strength whitening gels in specially made trays. These provide the same results, albeit more slowly, as it will typically take a couple of weeks to whiten your teeth.

Sometimes teeth are internally stained and will not respond to teeth whitening or have minor imperfections, or are not quite the ideal size and shape.

Veneers cover the front surfaces of these teeth, creating a more cosmetically perfect appearance. We provide durable veneers made from porcelain or composite resin.

Inlays and Onlays

Your back teeth have large chewing surfaces with intricate fissures that can easily trap food and decay-causing bacteria. Consequently, cavities in these teeth are quite common.

Inlays & onlays are strong, beautiful porcelain restorations that mend these cavities nearly invisibly, eliminating any dark areas often created by ordinary amalgam fillings. In addition, porcelain is a material that works harmoniously with your teeth, so these restorations help to protect and preserve teeth while improving their appearance.

Crown Lengthening

If you show a bit too much gum when talking or smiling, a crown lengthening procedure removes the excess gum, exposing more of the tooth underneath. We can carefully reshape your gums, ensuring they frame your teeth nicely, creating a naturally more attractive smile.

Treatment can also be very useful if you break a tooth close to the gum line. Exposing more of the tooth allows us to restore it with a dental crown, saving the tooth and protecting and preserving it.
